Beverley Knight put on an amazing show last night at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London, where she showcased a stunning set of tracks from her forthcoming new album ‘Music City Soul‘.
The venue was very intimate. Bev kicked off her set with the new single ‘No Man’s Land‘, which was both beautiful and spine tingling, then onto ‘Every Time I See You Smile‘ and gospel sounding ‘Ain’t That A Lot Of Love‘. The band have grown since the last UK tour, now featuring saxophone, trumpet and flute players, aswell as a new female backing singer. They looked fantastic in suits, with Beverley in a black number, very back to basics style, with a very Jazz/Soul club looking stage. The material was superb, her best album yet, the songs performed last night were full of power, full of energy and full of soul, highlights included ‘The Queen Of Starting Over‘, the funky ‘Saviour‘, and that amazing Rolling Stone cover ‘Time Is On My Side‘.
The night didn’t all go to plan though, as Beverley had problems trying to enter the venue itself at the beginning of the night, after doormen didn’t recognise her. Some celebs could be spotted in the crowd, Nate James, Skin (Skunk Anansie) and Jason Orange…
The setlist was as follows -
No Mans Land
Every Time I See You Smile
Ain’t That A Lot Of Love
After You
Shoulda Woulda Coulda (Philly Mix)
The Queen Of Starting Over
Saviour
Rock Steady
Time Is On My Side

Come As You Are
Filming was also taking place during last night’s show, signs around the building stated, ‘Please be advised that tonight there will be a promotional/commercial video and audio recording of the above artist.’
